Fireflies launches Live Assist and Desktop App to deliver real-time help in every meeting

The Fireflies Desktop App is now available to everyone. Download it once, and it captures audio directly from your Mac or Windows computer. No bot joins your call. Instead, the Desktop App records from your computer. Tell participants you're recording at the start of the call, and use the app's recording notices so they're reminded. But the bigger story isn't just about bots. It's about what you can now record that was never possible before:

• A Slack huddle (bots can't join these at all)
• A podcast you're recording
• A phone call through your computer, once the other person knows it's being recorded
• An in-person meeting, after you've told the people in the room
• Meetings and calls on any app on your computer.
  
  Wherever you record, you're responsible for telling participants and getting consent where the law requires it.

The Desktop App isn't a separate product. It's Fireflies, running natively on your computer. After any recorded session, you get the same transcripts, AI summaries, action items, and AskFred search you already rely on. All 90+ integrations work. Your existing meetings and teammates are already there. The difference is where the recording happens. Instead of a bot in the cloud joining your call, your computer captures the audio locally and sends it to Fireflies for processing. Same output, different input.

Live Assist and Sales Assist, built in

The Desktop App also brings Live Assist and Sales Assist to every call you record. Live Assist gives you a real-time panel during meetings — surface answers from your knowledge base, pull up past decisions, check pricing — without leaving the conversation. Sales Assist does the same for sales calls specifically, letting reps answer questions on the spot without putting a prospect on hold. Both appear in a panel alongside your call.

Privacy and security, by design

Under our Terms of Service, Fireflies does not use your meeting content to train generative AI models, and our AI vendors are contractually barred from training on it. The Desktop App captures audio on your device and sends it to Fireflies for processing. Private storage options are available. Teams that handle health information can request a Business Associate Agreement by emailing security@fireflies.ai.
