Today we are excited to announce our $14m Series A round led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from our seed investor, Canaan Partners. This follows a $5m seed round at the end of 2019. Sandhya Venkatachalam and Rayfe Gaspar-Asaoka will be joining our board of directors. We’re fortunate to have the continued support of our angel investors who are current/previous operators at organizations like Slack, Salesforce, Dropbox, Hopin, and Twitter.
Mission:
By capturing conversations, transcribing meetings, and making them easily searchable, we’re creating an automated knowledge base for your organization. This past year, Fireflies has been in meetings, taking notes for over 2 million people across 200,000 orgs. That is equivalent to several centuries of meetings compressed in a short period of time. Whether it’s key feedback from customer calls, important intel during hiring interviews, or decisions made during all-hands meetings, Fireflies helps your team document and collaborate around the voice of your customers, candidates, and employees.
The Fireflies vision is expanding beyond automatic meeting notes. We want to automate the work that happens post meetings in the apps that you already use.
After the meeting, our platform will orchestrate actions in your systems of records where you already work. For example, Fireflies can auto-log calls and notes in your CRM, create tasks in Asana, or save meeting recaps to a Dropbox folder.
Why now:
Voice is more important than ever before. The pandemic has accelerated the rise of remote and asynchronous work. We spend a large part of the day video-conferencing with our team. In fact, 3x more information can be delivered when we speak (150 words per min) vs when we write (50 words per min). However, important details fall through the cracks as we jump from one meeting to the next.
Right before the pandemic, we rolled out our Fireflies Voice Assistant in Jan 2020 for all the major video conferencing platforms including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, GotoMeeting, and Skype.
We’ve also expanded in the last couple of months to supporting several dialers and telephony systems like Aircall and Ringcentral. In addition to the voice integrations, users can kick off workflows to dozens of CRMs & collaboration apps.
When we first designed Fireflies, we wanted it to work with the ecosystem of tools that we use every single day. Fireflies connects to your calendar and can even capture meetings scheduled via tools like Calendly. The entire experience can be automated with just a few clicks.
What’s next:
As companies return to the office and as more hybrid work structures form, Fireflies will have a larger role to play keeping remote & in-person employees in the loop.
We’ll be using the new capital to continue to grow our 50 person team, which is currently distributed across 5 countries in 12 cities. If you're passionate about building highly scalable systems that touch millions of people, come join us.
