How it works
Talk lives in the Fireflies desktop app. Click where you want the text, hold Fn on Mac or Ctrl and Win on Windows, speak, release. That's the whole thing. There are no voice commands to learn and no new window to work in. You stay in Gmail, Slack, your doc, your CRM, your AI prompt, and you just stop typing.
Three things it does that matter.
It cleans up as you go. Say "um, yeah, so the report is, uh, basically done, I'll send it tomorrow" and what lands is "Yeah, the report is basically done. I'll send it tomorrow." The fillers and false starts are gone. The meaning is exactly what you said, and it never adds words you didn't.
It formats for where you type. An email comes out like an email. A Slack reply comes out like a Slack reply. A line in a doc comes out like a line in a doc.
Say a name in Slack and it becomes an @mention. Say "Rohan, it's on my plate, I'll do it by Monday" and Rohan gets tagged.
It works in more than 90 languages, so you can dictate the way you already speak.
Why it's free
Standalone dictation apps typically charge $12 to $15 a month for unlimited use. We decided not to do that.
Fireflies started as a notetaker and has grown into the AI teammate for the more than 20 million people who've used it. It briefs you in the morning, takes your notes, drafts your emails and reports, and updates your CRM. Talk is the next step in that, not a separate product with a separate bill. Talking instead of typing should be as ordinary as spellcheck, so it's included on every plan.
Where your words go
Your dictations are stored on your device. Fireflies doesn't keep a copy, and no one else at Fireflies or in your workspace can see them. They are never used to train models. Fireflies is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant.
Why we built it
We started using Talk ourselves before anyone else did. Slack replies. Email. Prompts. Notes at the end of the day.
You type about 45 words a minute. You talk about 150. Once you feel that gap, going back to the keyboard for a two-line reply starts to feel strange.
Some things are easier said than typed.
